However, you can still use the drivers and management software provided by LSI with these custom firmwares. When searching for downloads that will work with Supermicro controllers, use the model number of a comparable LSI controller that shares the same SAS controller chipset.

I have been trying to connect a ESXi server containing an LSI 9271-8i SAS RAID card with LSI's MegaRAID Storage Manager (MSM) without success. Here is a description of my setup.
Game of thrones season 5 episode 6 reddit. Server: ESXi 6.5 U2C build 9298722 . The server RAID controller is a LSI 9271-8i RAID card. ESXi is running the following two VIBs downloaded and installed onto the server:
The 'lsi-mr3' VIB I downloaded from Broadcom.com, LSI's successor, and the 'lsiprovider' VIB I downloaded from VMware's Web site.
Client: A separate bare-metal Windows 10 computer runs MegaRAID Storage Manager. It exists on the same subnet (xx.yy.zz.0) as the ESXi server.
Behavior: When I start the MegaRAID Storage Manager, I click 'Configure Host..' I have tried options 'Display all the systems in the network of local server.' and 'Display all the ESXi-CIMOM servers in the network of the local server.' Both options do not show the ESXi server in question.
Expected Behavior: The Discover Hosts of MegaRAID Storage Manager should result in finding this ESXi server's RAID Controller.
Possible clue: We have a separate server with identical hardware running ESXi 6.0 Update 3a (Patch 5) build 5572656. This server is found by the Discovery process of MegaRAID Storage Manager.
What I have tried:
Dell Software Manager
I'm more or less out of ideas, and am first wondering if this setup is even compatible. The compatibility guide for this RAID Controller shows that it is compatible with ESXi 6.5. (And the lsiprovider is also compatible). Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

Update: Added #4 and #5 above
